Leading Machine Slide Manufacturers

Used typically with heavy duty applications such as CNC machining equipment, automated assembly machinery, tooling and cutting, machine slides are able to handle massive loads. These motorized linear slides offer precision movement capabilities along vertical or horizontal rails that can be single, double or multi-axis. Read More…

Machine Slides Machine slides, or machine tool slides, are linear slide mechanisms used in automated machinery to push, pull or position equipment.

Machine slides are moved by drive mechanisms; these mechanisms can be mechanical, hydraulic or electronic. Machine slides are designed to have close tolerances and high rigidity to ensure that motion, even in high-paced applications, is controlled.

The slides consist of a stationary base which holds the linear rails and a moving component, or carriage, that is attached to the bearings channels and moves along the cylindrical or ball bearing slides within the railings.

Dovetail slides are often used in machine slide processes because of their increased precision and close tolerance performances. The slides also have a gib which ensures the components stay in place along the linear rails and make up for any slip-stick which may inadvertently occur.

Four-slide machines are a popular type of machine slide which are used to manufacture metal parts by using moving mechanisms on four separate axes that act upon the metal to create a finished component. They are able to produce completed components in fast turnaround times.

Stainless steel, cast iron and aluminum are the most common materials used in the construction of machine slides. Material choice is dependent upon the specifics of the application and the intended work environment and load capacity.

Cast iron is durable and can maintain its structure under the pressure of weight, whereas stainless steel is important for corrosion resistance purposes. Most machine slides have to be custom designed because they are used for product specific or equipment specific processes and therefore need to be adjusted accordingly.

Options include: ball screw, lead screw, air or hydraulic cylinders for motion control, including blocks and keepers at the end of the desired motion range. Also, machine way wipers are used with machine slides to protect the equipment against wear and tear from dust and debris along the linear rails.

The wipers move in front of the carriage or sliding mechanism to ensure smooth movement of the bearings and rail. Covers, bellows or other linear rail shields can also be used to further protect against the contamination of the bearing system within the linear system.

Linear Rails

Linear Rails

Linear Rails are ideal for moving items through a production process with great precision and as little friction as possible if creating, packing, and distributing products. Linear Rail is a type of gadget that...

Linear Slides

Linear Slides

Linear slides, also referred to as linear guides or linear-motion bearings, are types of bearings that allow smooth and near-frictionless motion in a single axis. Machine tools, robots, actuators, sensors, and other...

Roller Tables

Roller Tables

A roller table is a small, stiff, limited linear guide device with an integrated cross-roller guide. Electrical or mechanical drive systems are frequently used to move a roller table, making it easy to transfer heavy loads...

Ball Bearings

Deep Grove Ball Bearing

Ball bearings are types of rolling-elements bearings that carry loads, reduce friction, and position moving machine parts while facilitating motion. They reduce surface contact and friction across moving planes by...

Linear Bearings

Linear Bearings

Linear bearings are a type of bearing that "bear" or support the load of the carriage during its single-axis linear movement and provide a low friction sliding surface for the guide rails. In a linear guide, the carriage is the component that travels in a straight line, back and forth, along the length of the guide rail...

Lead Screw

Lead Screws

A lead screw is a kind of mechanical linear actuator that converts rotational motion into linear motion. Its operation relies on the sliding of the screw shaft and the nut threads with no ball bearings between them...

12 Volt Linear Actuators

12 Volt Linear Actuators

A linear actuator is a device that transforms rotational motion into push or pull linear motion, which can then be used to lift, lower, slide, or tilt machinery or materials. They offer effective, maintenance-free motion control...

Electric Actuators

Electric Actuators

Electric actuators are devices capable of creating motion of a load, or an action that requires a force like clamping, making use of an electric motor to create the force that is necessary...

Types of Linear Actuators

Types of Linear Actuators

A linear actuator actuates, moves, in a linear, straight, line to complete or start a process. There are a variety of terms used to describe a linear actuator such as ram, piston, or activator. They are very common in...
